World Orphans Day
World Orphans Day is observed annually on the second Monday of November. It’s a global awareness day dedicated to supporting millions of children who have lost one or both parents due to war, disease, poverty, natural disasters, or other hardships. The day emphasizes the need for care, education, health, and emotional support for these vulnerable children. Established in 2006 by The Stars Foundation, an organization focused on helping children displaced by war, poverty, AIDS, and disasters. The goal: raise awareness, mobilize resources, and inspire action to improve the lives of orphans worldwide. Caring for orphans has deep historical roots—Romans opened the first orphanage around 400 A.D., and ancient Greek and Jewish laws mandated support for orphans until adulthood.
