Skinny Dip Day

International Skinny Dip Day is celebrated annually on the second Saturday of July—which falls on July 12 in 2025. It’s a lighthearted and body-positive observance that encourages people to enjoy the freedom of swimming without clothing, while promoting self-acceptance, body positivity, and a connection with nature. The term “skinny dip” (meaning to swim nude) was first recorded in 1947, though the practice dates back centuries 2. In 1976, body-positivity advocates Lee Baxandall and Eugene Callen helped launch National Nude Weekend, which later evolved into Nude Recreation Week. In 2018, the American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR) officially designated the second Saturday of July as International Skinny Dip Day to celebrate body freedom and raise awareness for body-positive causes.
