Manatee Appreciation Day

Manatee Appreciation Day is celebrated on the last Wednesday of March each year — so the actual date shifts slightly depending on the year. It’s a day dedicated to raising awareness about manatees — those gentle, slow-moving marine mammals sometimes called “sea cows.” Manatees are peaceful herbivores that live in shallow coastal areas and rivers, mostly in places like Florida, the Caribbean, and parts of West Africa.
