Historical Events

1881 – The American Red Cross Established:
Clara Barton and a group of her acquaintances founded the American Red Cross. Barton became its first president. The organization was established to provide emergency assistance, disaster relief, and education in the United States.

1927 – Charles Lindbergh Completes First Solo Transatlantic Flight:
Charles Lindbergh completed the first solo nonstop transatlantic flight, landing in Paris, France. He had taken off from Roosevelt Field in New York the previous day, flying the Spirit of St. Louis. This achievement earned him international fame and the Orteig Prize of $25,000.

1932 – Amelia Earhart’s Solo Transatlantic Flight:
Amelia Earhart became the first woman to fly solo nonstop across the Atlantic Ocean, taking off from Newfoundland, Canada, and landing in Ireland the next day. This milestone further solidified her status as a pioneering aviator.

1991 – Former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi Assassinated:
Rajiv Gandhi, the former Prime Minister of India, was assassinated by a suicide bomber affiliated with the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) during an election campaign rally in Tamil Nadu. His assassination was a significant event in Indian political history.
