Eeyore’s Birthday

Eeyore’s Birthday Party is a day-long festival that has been an Austin, Texas tradition since 1963. It originated with students from the University of Texas at Austin. Lloyd Birdwell, a UT English student in a class studying A.A. Milne (the author of Winnie-the-Pooh), along with his classmates, decided they needed an excuse for an end-of-year party to welcome spring. They chose to theme it around Eeyore, the famously gloomy donkey from the Winnie-the-Pooh stories, as a way to “cheer him up.”
