December 15th – Bill of Rights

Bill of Rights

Bill of Rights Day

Bill of Rights Day is observed every year on December 15th in the United States to commemorate the ratification of the first ten amendments to the U.S. Constitution in 1791. After the U.S. Constitution was drafted in 1787, many Americans feared it gave too much power to the federal government without guaranteeing individual freedoms. To address these concerns, James Madison introduced a series of amendments in 1789. These amendments were designed to protect personal liberties and limit government power. On December 15, 1791, the first ten amendments—collectively known as the Bill of Rights—were ratified by the states.
