Black Friday
Black Friday is the day following Thanksgiving in the United States, which falls on the fourth Thursday of November. It’s widely recognized as the start of the holiday shopping season and is famous for major retail discounts and promotions. The term originated in Philadelphia in the 1960s, describing heavy traffic and chaos after Thanksgiving. Later, retailers embraced the term, associating it with moving from being “in the red” (losses) to “in the black” (profits).

Buy Nothing Day
Buy Nothing Day is an international day of protest against consumerism, observed on the Friday after Thanksgiving in the United States and on the Saturday after Thanksgiving in Canada. The day was created in 1992 by Terry Swearingen as a way to encourage people to reflect on their consumption habits and the impact of excessive consumerism on the environment, society, and personal well-being.
